Beijing Jingyan Foundation 2024 Annual Review: Believing in the Power of Love and Action
Time passes quickly, and 2024 has already bid us farewell. Yet, every step we’ve taken this year is firmly etched in the course of time.
In 2024, we remained steadfast in our commitment to safeguarding the lives and health of children. We continued our tireless efforts to help those fighting for their lives, empowered local healthcare systems, and supported regional governments in their journey toward "Zero Thalassemia." We endeavored to integrate more humanitarian compassion into our charitable initiatives, supporting driven students in their pursuit of dreams, while actively promoting international philanthropic exchanges and broadening global cooperation.
This year, we have witnessed countless children overcome the odds with remarkable recoveries, and shared in the warmth and gratitude of many families.
Reflecting on the achievements of Beijing Jingyan Foundation in 2024, we take pride in the trust and gratitude of the children we’ve supported, the dedication and efforts of our partners, and the relentless drive and responsibility demonstrated by our team.
We remain steadfast in our belief in the power of love, as we continue our journey in public welfare. All the data represent not only the unwavering progress of the Jingyan team but also the love and dedication shared by everyone who journeys alongside us.

Building Love for Thalassemia Action

In 2024, the Beijing Jingyan Foundation supported 482 children with severe thalassemia, funding hematopoietic stem cell transplantation or intensive post-transplant rejection treatment. This reflects a 49.2% increase in the number of children assisted compared to 2023, with total funding reaching 13.732 million yuan—a 25.2% rise from the previous year. Since its launch in 2018, the Building Love for Thalassemia Action project has supported over 1,000 children with thalassemia, with total assistance exceeding 1,300 cases by the end of 2024.
Significant progress was also achieved in advancing the "Zero Thalassemia Plan" pilot project in Xishuangbanna Prefecture. Since our partnership began in 2023, we have funded hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and post-treatment care for 15 children from Xishuangbanna with severe thalassemia, providing direct financial assistance totaling 520,000 yuan. All 15 children successfully completed their stem cell infusions and were discharged from the hospital. In addition, we invited leading experts to Xishuangbanna in 2024 to conduct free medical consultations, organizing three sessions at Xishuangbanna Maternal and Child Health Hospital, Mengla County Maternal and Child Health Hospital, and Menghai County Maternal and Child Health Hospital. These consultations benefited over 105 families. Experts from Shenzhen Children's Hospital also provided specialized training to local grassroots doctors during the visits, significantly enhancing their skills in diagnosing and treating thalassemia.
The Healthy China Tour continued its mission in high-incidence thalassemia regions across China, visiting Luodian and Zhenfeng in Guizhou, Hainan, Baoshan and Xishuangbanna in Yunnan. Over the course of five stops, we held 10 free medical consultation and screening events, benefiting more than 368 families of children with thalassemia. In addition, more than 340 grassroots doctors received specialized training, helping to expand access to care and provide more healing opportunities for these children.
We continued to expand the "Circle of Care" for the Building Love for Thalassemia Action project, strengthening collaborations with partners such as the China Marrow Donor Program, LEGO Group, and BGI Genomics. By 2024, we had formed partnerships with 25 hospitals and institutions across 9 provinces, including Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan, Hainan, Chongqing, Fujian, Zhejiang, and Yunnan.
As part of our efforts, we distributed 450 Jingyan Care Packages free of charge, providing essential post-surgery supplies such as sterilization cabinets and offering financial assistance to families facing severe challenges. This compassionate support has brought renewed hope to families affected by thalassemia. A 2024 survey revealed that over 95% of parents were satisfied with the care packages, with "convenient" and "practical" being the most frequently mentioned attributes.
On the 31st International Thalassemia Day, we partnered with hospitals in Hunan, Guizhou, Fujian, Guangdong, and Guangxi to host a variety of engaging activities. These events raised public awareness about thalassemia prevention, promoted scientific control measures, and encouraged early diagnosis, timely treatment, and standardized health management for children affected by the condition.
Additionally, we reached out to thalassemia-prevalent communities, visiting and following up with 159 children to better understand their living conditions and challenges. Over the course of 2024, our team traveled more than 52,000 kilometers, with our footprints extending across 7provinces: Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, Hunan, Hainan, and Fujian.
