Attending high-level international conferences and exchanging views with international friends who have visited one after another, Beijing Jingyan Charity Foundation is extremely busy in this late autumn season, actively carrying out dialogues and exchanges with philanthropists and experts, and exploring new paths for international philanthropic cooperation.

On November 9th, the closed-door seminar of the China-Italy Philanthropy Forum on "Philanthropy Collaboration and Action Research" was held at Peking University, and Ms. Song Yan, Chairman of Beijing Jingyan Charity Foundation, and Mr. Wang Wenjing, Vice Chairman of Beijing Jingyan Charity Foundation, were invited to attend the meeting.
The China-Italy Philanthropy Forum aims to promote dialogue and cooperation in the field of philanthropy between China, Italy and Europe. Since its establishment, the mechanism has been highly valued by the leaders of the two countries. In March 2019, during President Xi Jinping's state visit to Italy, he witnessed the exchange of the Memorandum of Understanding on the Establishment of the China-Italy Philanthropy Forum with the then Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte.
Following the high-level seminars held in Rome, Italy, in May and October 2023, respectively, the China-Italy Philanthropy Forum held a high-level closed-door seminar in Beijing on November 9, with the theme of "Philanthropic Collaboration and Action Research".
At the symposium, the China Development Research Foundation, the National School of Development of Peking University, the China-Europe Philanthropy Innovation Research Center of Peking University, the University of Turin, the Institute of World Affairs of Turin, Italy, and HEC Europe will jointly sign the third phase of the "China-Italy Philanthropy Forum". The conference discussed family inheritance, higher education and philanthropic development, as well as the role of the China-Italy Philanthropy Forum in cross-cultural philanthropic collaboration.
Reunite with former Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi
Since November, Beijing Jingyan Public Welfare Foundation has welcomed a number of international friends to visit one after another.
On November 2, at the invitation of Ms. Song Yan, the former Prime Minister of Italy and former President of the European Commission, Romano Prodi, and his delegation visited Beijing Jingyan Foundation. Ms. Song Yan, Chairman of Beijing Jingyan Public Welfare Foundation, and Mr. Wang Wenjing, Vice Chairman of Beijing Jingyan Public Welfare Foundation, accompanied the visit and held a symposium.
Ms. Ye Zi, Secretary-General of Beijing Jingyan Public Welfare Foundation, introduced the development history and main work of Jingyan Foundation to Prodi and his entourage in detail. Over the years, Jingyan Foundation has continued to pay attention to the medical assistance of children in distress and other fields, deeply cultivated thalassemia and other major childhood diseases, and gave full play to the advantages of family foundations such as focus, efficiency and stability, and has helped nearly 2,300 children with serious illnesses in difficulty.
When talking about the brand project of Jingyan Foundation, "Building Love Thalassemia Action", Mr. Prodi fully affirmed Jingyan's in-depth development and professional contribution in the field of thalassemia public welfare in China. He said that Italy is also a country with a high incidence of thalassemia, and hopes to strengthen exchanges and share experiences, and hopes that "no poverty in the world" will come as soon as possible.

Love without borders International exchanges inject vitality into Kyungyeon
Boundless love and globalization in the field of public welfare can not only promote international exchanges and cooperation, but also promote the common progress of the global community.
The newly revised Charity Law of the People's Republic of China came into force on September 5, and the newly added Article 102 clearly states that "the State encourages international exchanges and cooperation in charity". This provides a legal basis for China's philanthropy to go global, and also lays the foundation and points out the direction for international philanthropic exchanges and mutual learning.
Beijing Jingyan Public Welfare Foundation has also carried out active exploration in the field of international charity exchanges and cooperation. In October this year, Ms. Song Yan, Chairman of the Board of Directors, went to Italy and visited a number of institutions and organizations such as the Zegna Foundation, the Alfili family, the Liechtenstein family, and the Orsolina28 Art Foundation, and conducted extensive exchanges on topics such as life and health, cultural exchanges and sustainable development.
On the basis of friendly visits, Mr. Prodi, Mr. Erkan and many other celebrities came to Beijing and came to Beijing Jingyan Public Welfare Foundation to carry out friendly exchanges, gain in-depth understanding and explore the possibility of cooperation.
Ms. Song Yan said that issues such as child health and education, and sustainable development are common concerns around the world. About Romano Prodi
Romano Prodi served as President of the European Commission from 1999 to 2005, during which time he successfully launched the euro and expanded the EU to 10 new members in Central and Eastern Europe and signed the EU Constitutional Treaty.
Prodi was an associate professor at the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Bologna (1966) and a full professor of industrial organization and industrial policy (1971-1999), a visiting professor at Harvard University and Stanford University Graduate School, and a faculty member at China Europe International Business School and Brown University.
In February 1995, Prodi formed a center-left coalition of "olive trees" and was elected as a candidate for prime minister. The coalition won the 1996 general election, and Prodi was elected prime minister of Italy in May of the same year. Prodi's cabinet took a series of bold steps during his tenure to bring Italy up to Maastricht criteria and successfully join the eurozone. After many years in the European Commission, in 2006, Prodi was elected president of a coalition of center-left parties and won the election to become Italy's prime minister again.
Prodi is a member of the Advisory Board of the Institut du World Affairs in Turin and has been Co-Honorary President of the China-Italy Philanthropy Forum since 2019.

Beijing Jingyan Public Welfare Foundation is a family-based non-public foundation established by Ms. Song Yan and her family. Founded in 2015, the Foundation is a 4A-level foundation supervised by the Beijing Civil Affairs Bureau.

About the Charity Thalassemia Initiative
The Thalassemia Action is a thalassemia medical assistance project initiated by Beijing Jingyan Public Welfare Foundation in 2018, which is committed to promoting the eventual elimination of thalassemia dusty in China.
The project helps children with thalassemia who are threatened with death and suffering from poverty and disease to receive hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and postoperative rejection treatment, actively carries out science popularization and education, so that a wider range of people can understand and be familiar with the dangers of thalassemia, and promotes the inclusion of thalassemia screening in marriage and pregnancy tests and the diagnosis and treatment training of grassroots doctors in provinces with high incidence of thalassemia, so as to help the government implement thalassemia prevention and control policies and promote China's early realization of "zero thalassemia".
The Charity Thalassemia Action has covered all high-incidence areas in the Mediterranean in Chinese mainland, established rescue centers in six provinces of Guangdong, Yunnan, Hunan, Guizhou, Guangxi and Hainan, and has 29 cooperative hospitals and medical institutions, helping more than 1,200 children with severe thalassemia to undergo hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and postoperative rejection treatment, with a rescue amount of more than 52 million yuan. The project also held more than 130 activities such as free clinic screening and science education, affecting more than 1 million people. More than 1,200 grassroots doctors in areas with a high incidence of thalassemia have been trained, specializing in pediatrics, hematology, obstetrics, health care and many other professional fields.
